Tholie as a pup...
In the summer of 1995 we decided to take another dog, so Ayla wouldn't be alone while we weren't at home...
We came in contact with a very nice breeder Jan and Monique Gedopt living in Mol (Belgium). They just had a litter of 6, with 5 tawny pups and a black one. They were born 07/28/95. The first time we saw them, they were just few days old. In the first 7 weeks we visited them frequently : it was the 1st time we saw a pup grow and grow and grow JUST GREAT :-)
 
MY PEDIGREE
 
Kally, the mother of the pups had a 'stomach-torsion' after her pregnancy, so after being born the pups had to be fed with a bottle. Therefore you noticed a very close bond with Monique (one o/t breeders) --> where she went, the pups followed her. The great thing about the breeders, was that they were very open and social : you still noticed after so many years with Briards, they considered a new litter, almost as their first. They also were very informative : we could ask them as many questions as we wanted --> no problem at all. They even made a thorough profile of our family before they chose one of the pups. Another good thing about the breeders : they have many children and 7 dogs --> the social contact of the pups with people and other dogs during the first 8 weeks, is just splendid.

My new home
In the month of September we could take Tholie to our home. Monique and Jan had prepared a big moving-away sack with little bones, some food, some personal toys and a towel that had been lying in the nest : a real touching sight ...
The first 3 weeks Ayla didn't like the 'intruder' in her property. When Tholie came too close, she always grumbled. From that moment on, she protects her totally : she cannot stand another dog to come too close to Tholie.
In many ways she is different from Ayla. Tholie is a much more playful dog, just as her father is. Less reserved, but easily frightened. It also took a long time before she was clean inside the house. Nowadays she is still much more untidy and clumsy than Ayla.
