My wife bought our first dog when she was still living alone.
Sita was born on 02/19/1983. It was a mixture of a German pointer and an unknown
passer-by. Growing up from a pup to an adult dog her character was really warm
hearted, playful and at times humorously naughty.
She was a dog that was very much attached to her bosses. During
the evenings, when we were watching TV, the moment she could lie down on our
laps, her night would be perfect. She was obedient, unless her houndly instinct
told her otherwise : she incessantly, could chase rabbits and other little
animals. She was very kind to people, soft to children, but couldn’t stand cats
at all...
One of the great moments with her I remember the best, was
on one of our yearly holidays in Palmyre in France. There is a long white shore
there and at the moment we visited it, there were no people at all. We made some
great and very long walks there. While we were walking on the shore Sita would
run into the dunes. She wouldn’t show herself for almost half an hour, then came
peeping on the exact spot we had already reached. She would just see if her
bosses were still walking in the neighbourhood, and if not called for, she would
return to the dunes. She had a very great sense of orientation.
She stayed with us till she was 12 years old
(07/13/95)
Typical for her boss-attached character was the way how she died
: Her last night with us, she must have fought and fought to stay alive until
the moment we woke up to go working. We took her on our laps. Her breathing
which was very iregular and nervous in the beginning, turned into a soft and
relaxed breathing…. She just wanted us to be there with her, when she
died. :-( |
